Professor Pedro Minc began his martial arts journey in Rio de Janeiro, training Judo with his father, a black belt, when he was 11 years old. Six years later, he discovered Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu (BJJ) and fell in love with the art. That passion led him to Nova União, one of the most respected teams in the world, where he trained under Master André “Dedé” Pederneiras, coach to legends like José Aldo, Renan Barão, and Eduardo Dantas.
In 2014, he launched “Pequeno Samurai”, a social project in a low-income community in Rio de Janeiro that offered free BJJ classes to underserved youth. It was here he discovered his passion for teaching children and the power of martial arts to inspire personal transformation.
After earning his MBA from Fundação Getulio Vargas, Pedro moved to the United States in 2017. He spent several years in New York City, where he coached BJJ and competed extensively across the country. During this time, he achieved multiple titles, including:
Pedro earned his black belt in BJJ after years of dedication, training, and competition. He also built a reputation for his strong fundamentals, competitive mindset, and calm, respectful approach to coaching and instruction.
In 2021, Pedro moved to California and opened MBJJ Academy in Redwood City. By 2025, the academy relocated to its newer and bigger facility, marking a major milestone as Professor Minc realized his dream of building his own gym in a dedicated space. Today, Professor Minc serves as Head Coach at MBJJ and also leads a rapidly expanding self-defense after-school program for children in Menlo Park and Atherton.
He continues to teach students of all ages and experience levels, including children with special needs, bringing the same passion, patience, and purpose that have guided his journey from Rio to the U.S.
